Description
We enjoy a view from our place on Glory Mountain unlike any other. We overlook the mouth of Nantahala Gorge, Little Tennessee River, Fontana Lake, Smoky Mountain Railroad (as it travels to the Nantahala Outdoor Center) and Eastern Watershed of the Great Smoky Mountain Park.
This view is ever changing and so AWESOME. Our place was considered for a major scene in the FOX movie "The Clearing" being filmed in Western Carolina fall 2002.
Bring your telescope, binoculars, and camera. You will need a tripod to record the changing view. Bring yours or you can borrow mine which is in the living room.
This place mother calls "heaven" - we call it Grouse Pointe. It feels very remote but 24 minutes gets you to Ingle's Grocery Store in Bryson City, 18 minutes to white water sports on the Nantahala River, 7 minutes to fishing for trout in the Little Tennessee River, 35 minutes to Cherokee Indian Reservation and Harrah's Casino, 30 minutes to Great Smoky Mountain national Park and the Great Smoky Mountain Train Depot is only 28 minutes from our driveway.
Also, our place was considered separately for lodging for the star of the movie "The Clearing", Robert Redford. It was rejected due to the daily travel to location shootings in Fontana Village and in Asheville. However, there will be filming on the lake and railroad trestle which can be seen from our deck.
Access: Last 2 miles is a one lane gravel road with moderate incline.
